On May 9, 2012, Research and Design Institute of Automation was separated from BGRIMM-MAT.

On Nov 2, 2010, BGRIMM-MAT was set up based on Research and Design Institute of Machinery and Research and Design Institute of Automation.

In July 8, 2008, Gu’an Enfi Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was wholly acquired by Research and Design Institute of Machinery, BGRIMM.
On August 18, 2008, Caoqiao Fabrication Workshop was moved to Gu’an and BGRIMM's Gu'an Machinery Co., Ltd. was subsequently set up.

In 2003, Research and Design Institute of Machinery was established based on Research Institute of Machinery. In the same year, Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (BGRIMM) became one of the enterprises directly under the administration of SASAC of the State Council.

In March 2000, Research Institute of Machinery was established based on Instituteof Equipment and the specialty of mine machinery of Mine Machinery ResearchDivision.

On April 27, 1990, Research Institute of Equipment was established based on Equipment Research Division and the fabrication workshop of Institute of TechnologyDevelopment.

In Nov 1965, the automation section was taken out from the Equipment Research Division and became Automation Research Division.

Nov 25, 1957, it was renamed to Equipment Research Division, Beijing Mineral Processing Research Institute of Metallurgical Industry, primarily engaging in equipment development and supply as well as automation research.

BGRIMM-MAT can be traced back to April 08, 1956 when Division for Non-standard Equipment Design was established with Research and Design Institute of Mineral Processing, subsidiary to the Ministry of Heavy Industry.
